Understand the categories

A BEV is a battery electric vehicle that uses stored electrical energy for propulsion. A PHEV combines a rechargeable battery and an internal-combustion power system; the exact operating modes depend on its design. REEV commonly describes a range-extended electric vehicle in which an engine supplies energy to extend electric driving. Confirm the manufacturer's classification for the specific model rather than assigning a powertrain from the brand name.

Compare practical use

Consider charging access, daily distance, longer journeys and the service resources available to the buyer. Read electric range and combined range as different measurements. Check the test cycle, battery information, charging connector and supported charging conditions in the version-specific documents. Do not assume that models sharing a body style offer the same powertrain choices or charging capability.

Include the powertrain in your enquiry

Specify the exact model, year and preferred powertrain with the destination and order quantity. Ask which charging equipment and documents accompany the vehicle. Discuss local requirements with the relevant import and service specialists. Compare like-for-like versions and obtain written confirmation before using any published range or charging figure in a purchase decision.
